OPEN DOOR'S CORE VALUES
Christ is the center of all we do or say
We depend on his grace. We submit to his Lordship. We pray in his name.
Always examining Scripture
We believe a church can only be faithful to God -and will only mature in Christ- by examining, discussing, obeying and faithfully proclaiming the word of God.
Families
We make it our priority to encourage and strengthen our families and to create an environment where our children and our youth are safe and respected, and where they really love being with this church family!
Relevance
We aspire to relevance. As relevant as today's headlines, as your own life right now . We want our gospel and our lives to open eyes and to build bridges. Like Paul, we have resolved to know nothing but Jesus Christ and Him crucified. But also like Paul, we strive to become all things to all men. In a nutshell: first century faith, twenty first century relevance.
Playfulness
God made puppies, kittens, children and laughter. He even thought of the Ostrich ! Since God is both holy and joyful, we should be too!
Unity
We are about love and family. Being connected. All for one and one for all, that sort of thing. When one of us rejoices, we all rejoice. When one of us weeps, we all weep. In other words, we deeply cherish our friendships and our unity. In fact, we'll fight tooth and nail for unity, but not at the expense of what is Biblical or right.
Diversity
And we're about people. All colours. All shapes. All sizes. We value everyone's uniqueness, their gifts, their strengths, their contributions and creativity. In short, their complete individuality. But we also realize that all of us have weaknesses, too. That's why we also need to depend on each other.
Discovery
Yes, living a faithful Christian life can be hard sometimes. But we also believe the journey should be a thrilling adventure, filled with wonder, learning something new about God, his world and ourselves everyday.
Service
Service is what makes us truly beautiful in the eyes of God. In fact, to serve others is to be like God, like Christ Himself. And who wouldn't want that?
