WHO WE ARE

Driven by Values, Vision & Love

Open Door Church Values

FAITH is a JOURNEY

The ongoing journey of faith looks different for every person, filled with ups and downs, doubts and discoveries. Therefore, faith is not a destination, but an invitation to explore!

DISCOVERY is ESSENTIAL

Finding and experiencing God is the only way to build a sustainable, lasting faith. At ODC, we’ll help you discover that path but won’t tell you what, how, or when to believe.

PARTNERS with GOD

To follow Christ is to partner with God, revealing God’s love to the world around us. We serve our community to bring a piece of God’s love to a world too often full of brokenness and pain.

EVERY LIFE has VALUE

Created in the image of God, every life has value and reflects the image of God. Therefore, God is revealed in every individual, in all of their uniqueness, strengths, and weaknesses.

UNITY in DIVERSITY

Our diversity is our strength at ODC, because it is through our diverse perspectives that we encourage and learn from one another.

OUR VISION | CHURCH & COMMUNITY

Our Vision

Fostering open discovery, genuine faith
& deep questions through the life of Jesus…

So that we can explore God’s love
in our community, as a family, in service and study.

What We’ve Been Up To

Watch our State of the Church Address to hear about 2016 and fulfilling our vision and purpose in 2017 and beyond.

Our Membership Statement

Open Door Church is a non-denominational Christian community of diverse spiritual and cultural backgrounds. We are dedicated to exploring God’s love together as a family, in our community, and in service and study. We live to inspire our neighbour to discover and explore God’s grace and love.

In response to God’s love and grace, we…

  • Participate in worship to deepen our faith and strengthen our community.
  • Are intentional about personal and spiritual growth through worship, prayer and study.
  • Live intentionally to share God’s love with all those we come in contact.
  • Serve the world compassionately by working for justice and peace, and caring for the environment.

Because we choose to be in community with one another, we…

  • Care for one another and treat each individual with respect, love and dignity.
  • Foster an environment of open study and discovery of God’s grace and love.
  • Accept and embrace diversity.
  • Share in the ministry of the church, acknowledging that each person serves as God calls.
  • Support the work of the church through prayer and the sharing of our gifts and resources.
  • Risk change so that lives are transformed and hope is renewed.

DIVERSITY @ OPEN DOOR

We are stronger in our diversity as we challenge one another, grow with one another
and create a better community through our many coloured lenses.

A Peak Into Diversity @ ODC

Here’s a snippet from our “Discovering ODC” series wrap-up! It gives you a taste of how we see diversity at ODC making us stronger.

INCLUSIVE CHURCH

Being stronger in diversity is especially critical in church! Jesus taught us not only to love,
but also to learn from and live with, those who are most vulnerable.

So you are welcome to be full particpants of our community at open door church…
regardless of your age, race, gender, nationality, sexuality, diversability, ethnicity, nearodiversity, gender identity or expression!

Being stronger in diversity is especially critical in church! Jesus taught us not only to love,
but also to learn from and live with, those who are most vulnerable.

Open Door Church has begun the conversation to intentionally define what this means for our church.

Watch the Launch

We began our conversation hearing the faith stories of two of our own. Watch the video here, then watch the series to see our values unfold in the lives of our members.

OUR STAFF

Our two-person team helps an army of volunteers and leaders do awesome things at ODC – from weekly worship to service projects, parenting groups to community-wide events!

Bradley CB

Bradley and his wife, Jenna, arrived in Maple Ridge in 2011 to explore God’s love in community with Open Door. His background includes both academic and community work – it is the collision of these two in ministry that brings  vibrant, relevant, active faith.

Geoff Kullman

Before joining Open Door in 2016, Geoff worked in nonprofit management and spent three years in ministry engaging teenagers outside the church. At the core of Geoff’s approach to ministry:  God is love and God is experienced most fully in community.
